CEO Corner
Having experienced and worked in the undergraduate world, I have seen just about everything under the sun. My best advice for the incoming class is to go to the orientation activities. Don’t act like you’re too cool for orientation. A lot of students skip out on it, but they also miss out on making new friends both in their class and in the older classes. It is also important to be patient with yourself and others and to be open-minded when exploring new things. While you may meet some great people at orientation, these may not be your friends for all of college. It is important to be open-minded and remember that there is no pressure to figure everything out overnight. As far as excelling academically, try to eliminate distractions as best as you can. There will be times when you need to study and times when you can be social. Find a balance and take studying seriously. Go somewhere that you can focus without distractions, so when you are hanging out with friends, you can do it without worrying about your school work. Oh, and go to class!

Partner Spotlight
|
 |
This month, we want to highlight one of our amazing partners KAN-WIN. KAN-WIN is a non-profit organization that seeks to “eradicate gender-based violence through comprehensive, survivor-centered services, education, and outreach to Asian American communities and beyond.” This non-profit originated in the 1980s when a group of women came together to advocate against domestic violence in the Korean American community. Since then, they have grown to embrace a wider community of diverse individuals with the hope to create “healthy and safe communities free of violence and oppression.” These inspiring women work to support survivors and each other through a wide range of services from housing to hotlines. They take inspiration from an Asian folk saying that says “happiness increases as we share it with others; pain decreases as we share it with others.” Their mission is uplifting and courageous as they work to ensure a brighter future for survivors and communities everywhere. KAN-WIN partners with us through our diversity-driven job board.

“The beginning of the school year is quickly approaching, and with it, comes a wide range of emotions.
