ASIAN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization specializing in soft skills coaching for students and professionals, as well as a diversity-driven job board for early career professionals. We believe that skills such as professional networking, promoting yourself, and job interviewing can be the deciding factor between you and another job candidate.
We have years of coaching experience with students of all cultural backgrounds and skill levels who have gone on to work their dream jobs.

Shane Carlin
CEO | FOUNDER | Coach
Shane Carlin, a seasoned professional with over 20 years in higher education administration, held key roles at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A Korean American adoptee, he earned degrees from the University of Kentucky and Miami University. Carlin is a skilled public speaker, having presented internationally, including a TEDx talk, and mentored students in diverse settings.

David Harbin
Director of Technology
David Harbin is a highly skilled IT director and computer engineer known for his proficiency in managing multi-user network infrastructure and leading dynamic teams. His career originated in higher education, where he established robust IT governance and mentored student employees. He has since applied his expertise to consult across various industries, including nonprofits, fintech startups, pharmaceutical labs, and more.

Ryan Nishimoto
Director of operation | HR
Ryan Nishimoto began his academic journey as an Electrical Engineer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He played the Tenor Saxophone and was actively involved in the Philippine Student Association. Afterward, he pursued a Computer Science master’s at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently, a Data Engineer in healthcare, Ryan enjoys video games, cooking, and staying active.

Kathleen Stark

Kathleen Stark is a social media strategist with experience working for brands like Ubisoft, Lunchables, Mondelez, Labcorp, and Bumble Bee Foods. She started her advertising journey at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she
engaged in student organizations
like AAF, Smashing Illini, and the
Philippine Student Association,
deepening her connection to her Filipino heritage.

Jessica Liu is a Texas A&M University student pursuing a B.B.A in Management Information Systems. She combines love for tech with campus involvement and adventurous travel plans.

Aaryaman Mummadavarapu is a Texas A&M University student pursuing a B.B.A. in MIS. He’s passionate about fostering inclusivity, organizing cultural events, and exploring various art forms.
