Jessica’s Corner
Just a few days ago, I finished my last day at my first corporate summer internship, Siemens. This internship was such a valuable and enriching experience that significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. Stepping into this position, I was nervous, but, at the same time, I felt so prepared due to my internship experience with Asian Student Achievement (ASA). I received high accolades from my Siemens managers and mentors for my assignments and deliverables but also, most notably, for the soft skills I was able to learn and develop during my time with ASA. I am thrilled to be able to continue my internship with Siemens through the upcoming school year, and it was an even bigger shock for me to discover that Siemens is partnering with ASA! Both of my worlds are colliding, and it’s so exciting to see what I will be able to accomplish for both sides.

From funding workshops to aiding conference expenses, donating to ASA helps support their mission to further Asians and Asian Americans in their career. By donating what I can, I find joy knowing my contribution makes a difference.”

Past Event
|
On August 19th, Asian Student Achievement President and CEO, Shane Carlin, was invited to host a diversity, equity, and inclusion training with the Penn State University Student Program Association leadership team via Zoom at their annual retreat. It was an opportunity to teach their leadership about the education and knowledge of hate crimes, bias incidents, and micro-aggressions as well as strategize on new ways they can help their membership with this important topic.
In addition, ASA was represented at the recent 2023 NAAAP Leadership Convention in Boston, MA where Shane Carlin was a panelist with other social entrepreneurs.

FACT has been going on for many years, and we are incredibly thankful to be a part of such an amazing event. For three days, our interns will get the chance to learn networking skills, and staffing skills, attend workshops, and more! If you would like to help send our interns to FACT this year, you can donate here!

Upcoming Blog

In this upcoming blog post, Gracie Singleton writes about why every student should prioritize work life balance. Here’s an exclusive sneak peek:
“Michelle Chhong is a University of Illinois Urbana Champaign alum who has worked her way up the corporate ladder. She is currently the Transformation Programs Lead at Schneider Electric, and she understands the challenge of pursuing the right career while still enjoying life. During my interview with her, I got to learn more about her story and how she got to be where she is today. As we dive into what she’s experienced, we will also see why work life balance is so important.”
