🍂The ASA Newsletter: Issue 15🍂
As September comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a month of growth and community, highlighted by the Mid-Autumn Festival. This celebration of togetherness encourages us to appreciate the connections we’ve built with our students and supporters!
In this issue, we’ll hear from our Operations Manager, meet three new interns, and share updates on past and upcoming speaking engagements!

Hello everyone! For those who celebrate, I hope you had a joyful and restful Mid-Autumn Festival. It’s such a special time for reflection, family, and connection, and I can’t help but feel that same spirit here at ASA as I reflect on my first month in this role.
It’s been an incredible experience working closely with our talented interns, who bring so much enthusiasm and curiosity to the table. The ASA team has been wonderfully welcoming, and I’m continually impressed by how bright and eager our students are to learn and grow.
As the academic year unfolds, I’m excited for the opportunities ahead. I’m hopeful we’ll connect with even more students through our internship programs, speaking engagements, and one-on-one coaching sessions. ASA is truly a fantastic place for students to gain real-world experience while honing specialized skills, and I can’t wait to see how we all grow together in the coming months.
Thank you all for making my start here so rewarding—I’m looking forward to what’s to come!

Welcome to our New Interns!
We’re delighted to introduce three new interns this month — Xiangyi Fei in Data Analytics, Ella Moon in Graphic Design, and Sarah Mun in UX/Web Design! They have been great additions to the ASA team and we can’t wait to see what they will accomplish during their time with us!
We asked Xiangyi, Ella, and Sarah to share why they decided to intern with ASA:
Xiangyi Fei: I applied to ASA because I wanted hands-on experience in marketing and analytics while also making a positive impact by supporting the Asian community. This internship offers the perfect blend of both—allowing me to contribute to a cause I care about while jumpstarting my career.
Ella Moon: I decided to intern with ASA because the goal of the organization aligned with my own. After looking at what internships were available, I took the opportunity to become a Graphic Design Intern and get real experience!
Sarah Mun: During my time in undergrad, I worked with designers from various disciplines to build a supportive community that uplifts diverse perspectives. ASA felt like a good place to continue building that community and work in a diverse interdisciplinary team. I’m excited to join ASA and get more practice with real-world UX problem-solving.

What is your favorite fall activity?
My favorite fall activity is watching Coraline and making pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. For me, these are both essential for a proper yummy, cozy, and a little spooky fall!

My favorite fall activity is eating pumpkin bread! I wish I could say baking it was my favorite activity, but I usually leave the baking up to my sister. Pumpkin bread during fall just tastes better than in any other season and it brings me so much warmth and happiness!

I love pumpkin patches and hayriding! It’s a great opportunity to revisit good memories from childhood, but also you get to hang out with pumpkins and family! I used to go grab the biggest, most perfect pumpkin, but now my favorite thing to do is find the most UNIQUE pumpkin with boils or lumps or cool textures.

My favorite is definitely hiking as the leaves begin to change color in the Smoky Mountains, picnic at a vineyard, and going to my local farmers market/fair.

My favorite fall activity is raking the leaves and jumping into the pile! When I was little, my dad would make a huge pile of crunchy leaves for me and my brother. Now my dog also joins in and loves to jump into the leaves!

My favorite fall activities are baking Pillsbury Halloween-themed cookies and watching old Disney Halloween movies! When I have time with friends, it’s also fun to get tiny pumpkins from the grocery store and draw little faces on them (it’s like a cleaner and easier version of pumpkin carving).

Each month, we highlight one of the many donors who choose to give to ASA as a thank you. This month, we are delighted to highlight Kevin Chan Bradley.
I have seen first-hand where some of the myths surrounding the APIA community have hurt our students. Many APIA’s in the workplace have been bypassed because of the “great worker, inadequate leader” myth and ASA is forging a path for the next generation of Asian students to shatter those myths and take their rightful place as leaders in the future. This is why I support ASA.
