Started in Chicago, IL, Asian Student Achievement, (ASA) is a growing organization that specializes in professional development for students and professionals. Our mission is to get Asian and Asian-Americans through the pipeline to leadership positions and increase diversity in the workforce.

Why we need you:

Over the past few years, we have filmed content during our attended workshops and interviews with Asian and Asian American students. We want to bring this content to life by engaging and sharing our story with our community. With your help, we can tell our stories and continue to inspire high school, university students, and early career professionals to achieve their goals. 

Projects you can be a part of:

• ASA event recaps
• ASA promotional videos
• Interviews/podcasts
• Short-form & long-form videos (e.g., Instagram Reels, LinkedIn videos, YouTube)
• Video editing training/mentorship
  • Framework for video scheduling/SCRUM

Responsibilities

Content Creation

• Edit raw footage & photos from speaking engagements, workshops, and other events to create ASA-specific content & promotional materials. This includes short-form content like YouTube Shorts and long-form content like interviews.
• Utilize SCRUM methodology, in which teams break work into short, self-organized cycles called sprints, emphasizing iteration, inspection, and adaptation, to guide the video creation process.
• Create video thumbnails for social media, newsletters, and other outlets.
• Work cross-functionally with the website and design teams to publish materials.

Branding and Engagement

• Strengthen ASA’s online presence and professional branding.
• Increase social media followers & engagement, 1:1 coaching & students, and speaking engagements & workshop events.
• Promote ASA by appearing in our photos, videos, and other materials.
• Promote our organization on all social media platforms.

Miscellaneous

• Respond to emails, Slack, and other communication within 24 hours of receiving the information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Willing to commit an estimated 8-10hrs/month.
• We ask that communications responses are within 24 to 48 hours.
• Self-driven with the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Basic networking skills and command of conversational skills for interaction with clients and teammates in remote settings.
• Video editing, brand storytelling, and graphics & animation experience.
• Must be digital media savvy and up-to-date with new trends in video production.
• Must show work samples of any of the following: previous portfolio, videography.

Non-compete clause: While working for ASA, you are not allowed to volunteer any competing organization or company that offers our business plan.

Preferred:

• Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, and other Google productivity software
• Basic networking skills and command of conversational skills for interaction with clients and teammates. 
• Having any prior internship experience(s) or similar part-time job(s) in video editing.
• Digital media savvy and up-to-date with new trends in video production.
• Video editing, brand storytelling, and animation experience
